LittlePretty Designers on 55 Secret Street
!!
Jan 23, 2008
How excited are we? VERY excited...that three of our designers were featured on 55SecretStreet! We alwayslove Nichelle's style, and its pretty cool to be right next to coverage of Natalie Portman's new vegan shoe line:

"Little Pretty Things"
"Over the holidays, I learned about a freshly-minted entrepreneur named Claire Hunsaker. She launched LittlePretty, her online boutique for independent jewelry design, just before Thanksgiving after leaving a job as a management consultant. Claire is not a designer herself, but she knew exactly what she wanted from the designers featured in the boutique. All of the jewelry (priced from $50 to $250) is handmade by the designers in their own home, store or workshop - each with a unique story or source of inspiration."

"Victoria Strevens (Moon necklace $85.00) draws some of the inspiration for her designs from the architecture in New York City."

Dose of Design Features Saylor Sage!
Jan 11, 2008
When not shopping for jewelry, browsing jewelry, photographing jewelry...we are lusting over home accessories. Dose of Design channels our sense of style almost perfectly (Hello John Derain decoupage!). We suspect they have a bug in the LP offices.

"Love it! - Saylor Sage Necklace"
"The beautiful sparkle and romantic shape of this Baroque-inspired crystal necklace makes it a total standout. It's layers of 14K gold filled chains gives it a vintage feel, like you found it in your grandmother's jewelry box. And what a stylish proportion - it's the only accessory you'll need to dress up any outfit!"

We're not punning...

Wednesday, January 9
So my best friend Sunny is 5'2, and over the last 20 years, I have come to appreciate that her wardrobe challenges are greater than mine. She turned me on to this great blog: PetiteFashionista...Christa is full of great information, but what endears her to us, is that she has great advice on jewelry for petites.

Saylor Sage on Petite Fashionista

"Little Pretty I have to admit, that I already fell in love with this online jewelry boutique just by it's name, Little Pretty. I mean I'm little and I love all things pretty right? Their selection of jewels makes it even sweeter.

Since earrings are my accessory of choice and the one that I feel naked without, I'll concentrate on them today.

I love a long delicate earring on petite women, something about the way it elongates the neck and frames the face. I never leave the house without earrings. My staples at the moment are a pair of gold hoops, Chanel logo studs (they're real I swear), long strand of tiny gold beads and medium sized pearls."

"Advice with Earrings; always wear them, love them, nothing that overwhelms your face, and when you're wearing longer earrings pair it with a bracelet rather then a necklace. If you do decide a necklace works, make it a longer style."

"Just rec'd a lovely note from Claire about her new online store, little pretty. she has a dangerous passion for sparkly jewelry - which motivated her to put together a collection of talented designers in her shop.

striking bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings - mostly in silver and gold, with a few choice semi-precious stones here and there. the items pictured above are from NYC designer Victoria Strevens, who draws upon city architecture & sea life for inspiration. her precious metal designs are fluid and graceful. checkout this new shop on the block for luxuriously simple jewelry."

LittlePretty on SF Indie Fashion!

November 21st, 2007
As new Bay Area arrivals, we are loving this blog... and they surprised us with a feature on Launch day!

"LittlePretty Is Big On Indie Designers"

"Some birdies from Stanford told me today about the recent launch of LittlePretty, an online store selling jewelry (like the Guava Necklace by Castaway, pictured here) from a growing roster of independent designers. The boutique is the brainchild of a Stanford business school student named Claire, who says:

The motto, “Everyone Deserves a LittlePretty,” comes out of my passionate belief that great design, whether on a wall or on a wrist, should be accessible to everyone…

To that end, I tried to make the site a no-brainer: free shipping on orders over $100, hassle-free returns, and an intuitive site design, thanks to my talented and telepathic web designer, Kate DiCesare, and the team at Edit.com.

For guys, we also have a gift ideas page with some sure-to-win suggestions, gift assistance support, and inexpensive, easy gift wrapping. The initial inventory includes 85 unique pieces from eight gifted designers, priced from $50-$250 retail.

One of the best things about the site is the designer section, where you’ll find bios on each. I love knowing about the people and the companies behind what I buy - so I was especially happy to see this here."
